Welcome to Maslow Housing Co-operative
Maslow Housing Co-operative is a community-led housing project based in Hastings, East Sussex, inspired by Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
Our vision is to create more than just housing. We are building a supportive community where people can meet their basic needs, develop meaningful relationships, contribute their skills, pursue their interests and realise their full potential.
Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs suggests that people flourish when their fundamental needs are met.
Safe housing, a sense of belonging, self-esteem and opportunities for personal growth all play an important role in creating fulfilling lives.
Our co-operative has been designed around these principles.
As a member of Maslow Housing Co-operative, you are not simply renting a room. You become part of a community where members work together to create a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment. Every member has a voice in how the co-operative is run and an opportunity to help shape its future.
Our community aims to support:
Physiological Needs
A safe, comfortable and affordable place to call home.
Safety Needs
Security, stability and a reliable living environment.
Love and Belonging
Connection, friendship, shared experiences and community.
Esteem
Opportunities to contribute, participate, learn new skills and be valued for who you are.
Self-Actualisation
The freedom and encouragement to pursue your goals, creativity, passions and personal development.
We believe that housing should be a foundation for living well, not simply a roof over your head.
Through cooperation, mutual support and shared purpose, we are creating a place where people can grow, connect and thrive.
If you are looking for a home within a vibrant and caring community, we would love to hear from you.
Together, we are building a community where everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential.
